Ground Breaking!!!

Well...Let the Building Begin!!!

Not only did I turn 30 this month (crazy!), but Ratliff Custom Homes broke ground to start building our new home on Monday, July 28!!!

We are sooo very excited. After all the preparation & decision making we can finally watch our dream house unfold before our eyes! I never though watching big machines move piles of dirt around would be so entertaining....until now!

As you can see from the pictures, they've completed most of the basement walls & we have 2 windows & one opening for another & our walk-out basement door opening. So amazing watching what gets done each day...these guys have been working hard in this icky heat. At least they've had somewhat of a breeze up there. They've also been using our nice bonfire pit we made for shade. I can't wait to see what they get done NEXT week!!!!!!!!!

Dominic & Gino enjoyed watching the excavator & the dozer working together to "did did" as Gino says it. It took them an entire day...but they got a lot done! Dominic also enjoyed playing in the creek between our house & my parent's. He has lots of different paths to run through in the woods (thanks to Papa K).

It's fun to watch him playing in the same creek that I did as a kid. I remember many a summer day in those woods that Brandon & I would play for hours. Funny how time has a way of repeating itself.

We've had a busy summer so far with two birthdays (well, 3 if you count mine!). Dominic turned 5 & Gino turned 2. If you will notice in Gino's picture he was in a trance while we sang happy birthday to him, it was so funny. Dominic had to help him blow out his candles, than he finally came to. He sure loved his ice cream cake that his Aunt Janet made for him.

We've also been spending a LOT of time in Emma's pool because of this crazy heat! Dominic does great swimming on his own w/his floaties...Gino thinks he doesn't need me, but he does.

Since we have no kittens at home, we've be-friended some strays down at the barn....whether they like it or not! They've of course named them all too. Gino named this one "Baby" because it looks like MoMo's yellow cat of the same name.

Gino has been learning new words everyday. Let me give you a brief summary of "Gino's Dictionary":

D = Dominic
Beep Beep = To Move Somone Out of His Way
Uggy = Huggy (he loves giving hugs...& I don't argue!)
Meow = Kittens
Moo = Cows
Tat Tu = Thank You (which he uses on his own)
Peas = Please
I Ov Oo = I Love You
Did Did = Dig Dig
Yep = Yes
He has also been attempting potty training. I've not been pushing real hard yet, but I don't argue if he tells me....of course he prefers to use the great outdoors though (but will occasionally use the bathroom). Glad we live in the country! Boys will be boys, what more can I say.
