We got the Penske truck on Sat. the 15th and one of Andy's friends from work was able to come help load the heavy stuff on Sunday...he was a life-saver! Dominic and Gino had fun helping pack too. They were great at caring out the pillows and cusions from the couch and small boxes.
Dominic
& Gino grew very attached to Madeline (our Goddaughter) while we were there and I know they will miss her...as well as Laura and Robert. We will all miss them, but plan on vacationing at least twice a year if possible. Dominic was also very sad that he didn't get to see his little friend Nicholas before we left, but we hope to keep in touch with all of them so he will see them again.
We left on 19 (late afternoon after discovering a flat tire on the U-Haul trailer luckily while it was still in our driveway). Dominic was eag
er to get back to OH. He was sitting in the truck all buckled and waiting for us while we finished up in the house. We drove till about midnight than stopped in a hotel in Kansas for the night. The kids did great, though Gino wasn't interested AT ALL in sleeping in a hotel bed....as you can see here he is pictured in the closet at 1 am playing with the ice bucket lid. Luckily we found a crib downstairs that we were allowed to use and he went right to sleep....we at least got a couple hours of rest. Dominic is a good sleeper and was happy to be sharing a bed with daddy..JPG)
Back on the road on Thur we drove ALL day. Frequent stops though. Dominic & Gino couldn't have been any better. They did so good. I am very proud of them. Dominic was a big help if I couldn't get something for Gino. I don't think our portable DVD player shut o
ff the entire time, but that was ok with me. Whatever worked. Copper did great as well and so did the cats. Everyone loved it when we stopped...between Dominic, Copper and Gino I don't know who kept running more. They obviously had fun stretching their legs.
Dominic kept asking "are we in OH yet?".....he didn't sleep very much, but Gino did. Thank goodness. The drive was very long and I was VERY tired to say the least but we made it home safely...a cappacino I got at the last gas stop helped. We didn't get to the house till 2 am....both kids were sleeping but woke up when we finally stopped. Dominic didn't have any trouble getting back to sleep on the floor of his old room (in his sleeping bag)....but Gino was a different story. I finally got him to sleep though. The next morning (WAS COLD)...but we had great help (thanks everyone) getting everything un-loaded and settled back in quickly. It feels really good to be home.
And the BEST news!.......Andy found a GREAT job at McClintock Electric in Wooster. We're both very happy and ready to begin our new life. Hope to see all of you soon! Thank you all again for your support. Hopefully our lives will begin to seem somewhat normal again....or not.
